Traditional Winemaking: All-Natural from Grapes to Glass
Experience BC’s hidden treasures
1st ROW Estate Winery hand-crafts award-winning wines using only the finest grapes grown in British Columbia’s Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys - including the world-famous Black Sage Bench.
Our Traditional Winemaking Process
1st R.O.W Estate Winery uses only traditional winemaking techniques to produce wines that mature naturally so you can experience harmonious and natural flavours, and memorable experiences.
1. Premium Ingredients
First, we choose only premium grapes from the best vineyards to make our award-winning wines.
When the grapes arrive at our winery, they are pressed gently with our low pressure press so they won’t import any harsh tastes from their skins.
2. Handled with Care
From the press, they are transported to our wine tanks for low-temperature fermentation in order to extract the most beautiful aromas and flavours from the wine.
Red wine grapes are crushed and their delicate skins are punched down gently by hand twice a day during fermentation to extract their unique colour, flavours and aromas.
3. Matured Naturally
After fermentation they are pressed into French oak barrels to mature and gain complexity. Red wines are matured 20-24 months to round the tannins and gain character and structure.
When you open a bottle of 1st R.O.W Estate Winery wine, prepare to experience a wine that was made and matured naturally, without manipulation - a natural, living representation of the land its grapes were grown on.
